Richard Van Roon: Chair   email   phone: 07771  975243

"I was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease in the 1990’s following a company medical examination. As the condition worsened I had to go onto dialysis in 2001 firstly at the Churchill and then at Swindon.

Fortunately I received a transplant in August 2002 and after initial problems my new kidney started to work well and luckily continues to do so. I joined the SCKPA in 2005 and later the committee as the National Kidney Federation representative. Last September I was voted in as Chairman."

Maggie Pratt-Heaton: Vice Chair  email

"I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease in 1976 after the birth of my second daughter. As my mother had the disease I always knew I might have it as well. My condition was monitored for years by hospitals in London until I reached the point of chronic renal failure.

After transferring to Milton Keynes peritoneal dialysis followed with a short spell of haemodialysis. I received a transplant in November 2004 and although I had acute rejection and was in hospital for a month, it is still going well. I joined SCKPA in 2006 when I retired and started the Milton Keynes branch the following year. I became Vice Chair in January 2019."

Bob Price: Treasurer and NKF Executive   email

"I’ve have received haemodialysis since 1981 with one transplant lasting five weeks. I wasn’t a suitable candidate for the transplant list again and have particularly enjoyed the flexibility and convenience of home haemodialysis since.

I joined the SCKPA in 1984 to meet other patients in similar circumstances to share experiences and give and receive support. I have also represented the SCKPA on the committee of the National Kidney Federation for many years."
