SCKPA AGM

15th September 2019 at the Oxford Belfry, Milton Common

The SCKPA Annual General Meeting was held at the Oxford Belfry hotel, Milton Common on Sunday 15th September 2019.

The meeting was well attended with many members enjoying an excellent buffet lunch at the hotel before the AGM in the Lincoln Room.

Minutes and details of the meeting will be published in the winter edition of VIVA!

Our speaker was Andy Mosson, renal technologist at The Oxford Kidney Unit based at the Churchill Hospital. He leads a team of five responsible for the maintenance of all the dialysis equipment within the Oxford area and for the water plant that supplies pure water to the haemodialysis machines.

He gave a most interesting talk on how early dialysis machines differed from those used today, particularly the ones suitable for home dialysis. The team runs an on-call rota which provides technical support, including outside normal working hours, for any unit or kidney patient dialysing at home.

The chairman Richard Van Roon made a presentation to Martin Wood in recognition of all his hard work and commitment to the SCKPA as vice-chairman and chairman. Martin is stepping down from the committee but will continue to help with the new renal ward project.

Arthur Edwards gave an update on the lottery that has to-date raised over £10,500 for SCKPA funds!  The Oxford branch ran the raffle and the meeting closed with tea, coffee and biscuits.
